Q & A - Entertainment

Questions

1. I have a motorboat. Are there any lakes in Cumberland County or nearby where I can take my boat and go waterskiing?

Smith Lake is the closest location to enjoy water skiing.  Other nearby locations are Jordan Lake, White Lake and Carolina Lakes.

2. What are some of the best golf courses to play?

The Fayetteville area is home to 20 golf courses, complete with signature courses, uncrowded holes and miles of beautiful fairways.

Some top spots to check out are:

Bayonet at Puppy Creek - Willard Byrd's championship course, largest and best conditioned practice area in the region.

King's Grant Golf Club - Voted the Readers' Choice Award as the best golf course in Cumberland County by the Fayetteville Observer.

3. We are moving to Fort Bragg. I am looking for a location where my son can continue to take fencing classes in town. Does Fort Bragg offer any fencing classes for children?

There is a fencing academy located in downtown Fayetteville called All-American Fencing Academy that offers classes for children as young 7 years old.  You can learn more about the academy at allamericanfencing.com or by calling 910.728.4924.

4. Now that it is getting colder, where is a good place to take the kids for entertainment?

While it depends on the age there's plenty to do here when it gets cold, and thankfully our winters are warmer than most. Of course, there's always a movie, but here are some other activities:

Roller Skating

Black River Paint Ball

Fascinate-U Children's Museum

Climbing

Laser Tag

Arcade

Paraclete Indoor Sky Diving

In addition to the information above another suggestion would be a place called Monkey Joes. It is great for parents.  The staff of Monkey Joes will assist your child/children through the facility and on/off of all of the bounce houses.  During this time they have the
parents area which has wireless internet if you bring your laptop,
reclining chairs and computers setup for your use.  Not to worry, you
can clearly see your children while in the parents area.

5. I have a son returning from Afghanistan soon. He is looking for a nice two bedroom, two bath apt or rental condo in a decent part of town that would have other 25-30 year old singles as neighbors. Pool, clubhouse, near a golf course or lake for fishing (or both). Being limited to online searches - is there a realtor who may specialize in rentals, or do you have any recommendations on a list of rentals such as this?

Little & Young 910.484.5400  or   look in the Apartment Guide publication.

6. am looking for a picture of the old massey hill recreation center it was a 2 story house

You may want to contact the library at the Fayetteville Observer.  The newspaper has lots of that time of information on file.
The telephone number is 910.323.4848.

Hope this helps!
