Situated conveniently off I-95 within two hours of southeastern North Carolina beaches and Myrtle Beach and four hours from the Blue Ridge Mountains, Fayetteville/Cumberland County is centrally located for both work and play. Our residents commute an average time of 20 minutes, and with $408 million funded for highway improvement and direct access to Fort Bragg through I-295 by 2011, getting around is getting even easier. Our highways provide easy roadway access to New York, Washington D.C. and Florida, while our rail system sends travelers seamlessly to Savannah and New York City twice a day.
It’s simple to get to, from and around Fayetteville/Cumberland County from just about anywhere. With direct air service to and from Atlanta and Charlotte, the world is at your doorstep. Additionally, public transportation serves all major hospitals, as well as major employers and educational institutions. Efforts are underway to establish a regional transportation system that would allow passengers to travel from one city or county to another using a seamless transfer system, while the transportation systems of Ft. Bragg and Fayetteville Area System of Transit (FAST) now connect at the gate and plans are being developed to allow for more frequent connections between the two transportation entities.
Within Fort Bragg, DOL/ITO Intra-Post Shuttle serves over 400 buildings on base, including stops at Fort Bragg Post Exchange (PX), Commissaries, dining halls, and shopping, food and entertainment establishments. Operating Tuesday through Sunday with extended hours on weekends, Fort Bragg easily connects to FAST to downtown, the airport, Amtrak and bus stations to access the County and beyond.
